Funeral and Burial

The Orthodox funeral service reminds us of the tragedy of death and the hope of the resurrection.  Because of the liturgical calendar, the order and scheduling of every funeral is unique.  The general pattern is:

• The deceased is brought to the church by the funeral home and met by the clergy

• Trisagion prayers

• Private/Family Visitation

• Public Visitation

• Panikhida/Funeral/Liturgy for the Departed

• Internment
